Throughout February and March of 2013, Corral Consulting worked alongside Los Angeles based nonprofit BIENESTAR to assemble a grant application that funds community outreach and education on Covered California. The application process was intensive and extremely competitive, however, Corral Consulting is proud to announce that BIENESTAR was awarded a grant for half a million dollars.
Under the grant, BIENESTAR and Covered California are partnered to conduct community outreach and educate the Latino and LGBT communities across four Southern California counties on the health insurance program. BIENESTAR’s efforts will assist Californians to become aware and informed on how to obtain affordable, high-quality health insurance offered through Covered California that takes effect January 2014.
To Corral Consulting’s CEO and Principle Consultant, Richard Corral, the partnership between BIENESTAR and Covered California was an obvious pairing. “California has the largest number of uninsured eligible for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act,” he points out, “and we also have some of the most challenging to reach populations when communicating the value of this opportunity. BIENESTAR works with these populations all ready…it just seems like a natural fit.”
Director of Programs and Public Affairs for BIENESTAR, Victor Martinez, looks beyond the possibilities of his groups’ partnership with Covered California, and elaborates on the benefits of Corral Consulting’s involvement, “Working with Corral Consulting on the Covered California Outreach and Education Grant, enhanced BIENESTAR’s capacity to obtain a successful outcome to our proposal. Corral Consulting brought information, clarification of the process and assistance to submit our proposal.”
